Learning the Keys to Discipleship

So it has been a little over two months since the students arrived, and time is flying! Our team has really been growing close. The students are really opening up and sharing what is going on in their lives. It is so amazing to see God at work. Just recently two girls moved into my host home because of circumstances that have been happening. So now I am moving into a time of intense discipleship, because I am around these girls 24/7. Already we have had some deep conversations about what is going on in their lives, and what they are struggling with. It has been very good. I have a feeling God is going to be teaching me a lot this year about what true discipleship is all about.

Leper Colony in Nepal

This summer I went on a short-term mission trip to Nepal. While I was there I had the opportunity to disciple a group of four girls. We prayed and ministered together. It was amazing. One of the opportunities we had while we were there was we visited a Leper Colony. Since we had over 60 students and only 4 translators, I was not able to communicate well with those who were there. But we communicated in a different way. We hugged them, touched them, rubbed lotion on their hands, we showed them love in a way I have never done before. It was incredible. I don't think that most of those people have been touched since they contracted leprosy. God showed me that there are more ways to love than just saying nice things. There was one woman (on the left) who even let me braid here hair! And don't worry Leprosy is not something I can contract. The people at highest risk are those living in areas with poor conditions such as inadequate bedding, contaminated water and insufficient diet, or other diseases. And plus Leprosy is curable before a certain point. The only problem in Nepal is they can't afford the treatment, and they don't usually tell anyone until past the point where it can be cured. Anyway, the ministry was amazing. I truly believe that God is working in that village.

My New Job

Right now I am working in a discipleship school called Kairos. At the moment I am doing mostly administrative work as we get ready for the students to come on Oct. 14th. I am having a blast. I get so "geeked out" typing up outlines, making copies, sending faxes, and doing all sorts of officey things. I know I sound crazy, but I am loving it. The students come in less than two weeks, and I am so excited for them to come!
